Web Conference Tool System Requirements

System requirements differ depending on which of the two methods (program download or web browser) you use to host or join a meeting. The majority of hosts and online schools use the Web Conference Tool to host or join a meeting while the majority of guests use their web browser to join a meeting. System Requirements for hosting and joining a meeting are below.

Requirements for Participants Using a Web Browser to Join Meetings

Note: This is the default method guests use to join a meeting when clicking on links in email invites or host websites.

Windows

  • 1GHz AMD or Intel CPU
  • 128MB RAM (256MB or higher recommended)
  • Dial-up, DSL, or Cable Internet connection
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Firefox 2 or higher, Google Chrome, or Opera 9
  • Java 1.1 (Java 1.3 or higher for Desktop sharing)**
  • Windows 2000, Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Mac

  • 1GHz PowerPC G4 or Intel CPU
  • 256MB RAM or higher recommended
  • Dial-up, DSL, or Cable Internet connection
  • Safari 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0*, Firefox 2 or higher, Google Chrome*, Camino, or Opera 9
  • Java 1.3 or higher enabled in the web browser**
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, or Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard*
* Combination not compatible with VoIP audio in sessions.

Linux / Other

  • 1GHz AMD or Intel CPU
  • 128MB RAM (256MB or higher recommended)
  • Dial-up, DSL, or Cable Internet connection
  • Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Red Hat, Solaris, or Linux OS with support for Java
  • Web browser such as Firefox or Chrome
  • Any web browser (Viewing only**)
  • Java 1.3 or higher enabled in browser (Viewing, Desktop sharing)
** Any participants joining a meeting using a web browser without Java installed or enabled will join using the SureView method. SureView is strictly a viewer and will have no advanced capabilities such as text chat, VoIP audio, remote control or screen sharing.

  • 120 MB Free space on hard drive
  • Dial-up, DSL, or Cable Internet connection
  • Windows 2000, Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
  • GP4/5 application installed.

Mac

  • 1GHz PowerPC G4 or Intel CPU
  • 256MB RAM or higher recommended
  • 200 MB Free space on hard drive
  • Dial-up, DSL, or Cable Internet connection
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, or Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
  • GP4/5 application installed.
